Text: Proverbs 5:18-19
“Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant role; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.”
When, indeed, a man finds a wife, as the scripture says, he finds a good thing. A wife is the good thing from the Lord to the man. It is why our text is telling us that, it is actually the fountain (source) of marital blessing. It demands that the man loves and cherishes his wife.
Hear this: “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered” (1 Peter 3:7). The blessing of marriage is tied to the spousal commitment to seeing it work. The husband should strive to be loving and caring, based on this truth that, the fountain of their blessing lies in it. The wife should also be mindful of not allowing anything to affect their harmonious relationship, knowing that it could be harmful. If the fountain of the husband is cursed, rather than being blessed, because of love, both spouses, even the entire family, including the children, will suffer it. So, no spouse should think, he or she is doing the other favour, because you are better for it together.
Let us meditate deeply on our text, with a commitment to making our marriage a blessed and successful one. It takes two to tango.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to play my role towards the sustenance of the fountain of blessing in marriage, in the name of Jesus Christ.
