Text: Numbers 15:37-41″And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God. I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God.
“The salvation of Israel from Egypt is a type of the salvation of sinners from the world. In our text, God clearly tells us why He brought Israel out of Egypt. He said it was so that He will be their God. Which simply means that, not everyone is a child of God, except those saved. It is important we understand this, because there are those that thinks that so far we are all created by God, therefore, we are His. No, that is no true. Now, notice that being saved from sin (world) is not the end. It is only the beginning of being a child of God.
But to continue to be a child of God and for God to be your God, you must be holy, by observing to do all that He has commanded you. This is the condition Jesus says is required to be His disciple, when He said: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen” (Matthew 28:19-20). Obedience is key to holiness, and tells if the Lord is your God or not. If He is your Lord, you will do what He commands you (Luke 6:46).So, dearly beloved, if you want the Lord to be your God and to remain as His child, the condition is that, you must be holy, by obeying all that He commands you.Apart from eternal life, when the Lord is your God, He takes responsibility over your affairs. What a benefit!
