Text: Isaiah 19:17-21
“And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it. In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction. In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD. And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them. And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it.”
Egypt here typifies the world or the Gentiles who are not the people of God. But in the time of their being oppressed by their enemies and were terrified, they began to speak the language of Canaan, according to other translations, the language of the Hebrews or the language of faith, erected altar to God and began to call upon Him for their salvation.
It was in the midst of that, that God sent them a saviour. This underscores the fact that whoever calls upon God shall be saved, irrespective of where they are from. Apostle Paul said: “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:8-13).
Beloved, Jesus is that Saviour who has been sent to save us from our sins and satanic oppression. If you can believe in His finished work at the cross in your heart and confess Him with the language of faith, you will be saved. It does not matter if you are black or white. Just call on Him, and you will be saved.
In our text, we are told that as the saviour will be sent to save Egypt from their oppression, they shall know the Lord. I want you to know that the ultimate purpose God allows us to face some challenges is so that we know Him. I do not know what you are going through now, just turn to the Lord, call upon Him in repentance, and He will make Himself known to you. God wants you to put away strange altars where you call on other gods, and erect an altar unto Him as your Saviour, and He will save you.

May you be inspired to speak the language of faith in that situation and experience the intervention of God through the Saviour, in the name of Jesus Christ.
